Well I've had this game for over a year now and it's great.I play online against other players all the time and it spices things up.I've tried NBA live 10 and it did not convinced me as a better game than this one.Plus if you're going to buy a game now this one is probably cheaper.I believe the reviews were better for this one than for the new version.So save yourself 30 bucks and buy Live 09.
It's okay but there are a lot of things that could have been added to make it better and some of the new features that were added didn't seem necessary.
Well, the gameplay and graphics are much better than 2K9. All in all, it's a great game for any basketball fan. And the controls are much easier to get used to. The ankle breaker, and practice gym are a nice touch to a game that keeps getting better every year. I don't know what else to say about this game, except that it's freakin' fun. :)
My children don't have anything to compare to this game, so I can't say it's any better than another. I only know that the graphics are awesome, the teams are really up to date, & my boys love playing the game as if they are the real NBA players. They are 9 & 12 and thoroughly enjoy it.
Here are the good and bad things about the game based on my opinions:The Good:1. The players on the other team can easily block your shots to the point where it is frustrating, yet it is almost impossible to block the shots from other players yourself. At the beginning of the game it tells you to select your favorite team (I chose the Cavaliers), and then those are the players that you will use to practice with. I hate how in the practice area it will only let me control one player. No matter how many times and different ways I have tried, the only time I can make a three point shot is about 1/20. A lot of the movements the players make in the game are very realistic to how real players move on the court, and aren't all messed up like the movements on older basketball games.3.
I really enjoyed how the game had the actual players of each team, and I was able to recognize some of my favorite players.The Bad:Now I have only been playing this game for a short while, but I have had a few annoying problems with the game.1. One thing that has been extremely annoying in this game is how it is pretty much impossible to hit a three point shot. As a big Cleveland Cavaliers fan, I saw this game at a rental store and thought that I would give it a try. It will only let me control one while two other players are practicing, and Lebron is just standing there dribbling a ball and doing nothing.I'm sure that I will get better as I go along but this is the way I feel about the game so far. It's at the point where it is pointless to try to steal the ball because I know that I will get called for a foul automatically, yet the other team can steal the ball from me the exact same way and not get called for it.4. Like another reviewer stated already, blocking a shot in this game is just a matter of luck, not timing or position.5. I give it an overall 4 out of 5 stars.
Pretty much the only times I can make a sucessful shot is by holding down the square button to make my player go in for a lay up or a dunk, and usually he misses if he isn't extremely close to the basket.3. The graphics are very nice, and are some of the best I have seen in video games.2. I have no idea why, but for some reason it will only let me control Zydrunas Ilgauskus (Cavaliers player), and no one else. This has also been a problem with making jump shots as well, only not as bad.2. The refs call fouls almost every single time I try to steal the ball away from another player. I have pushed the buttons on the controller to try to switch players but it does not work. I believe that it is worth a rental but is not worth spending the price that is listed here as of right now.
